Ingredients

  • 3-4 28oz cans of tomatoes, crushed (preferably san marzino, or plum)
  • Olive Oil
  • Basil (2/3 leaves fresh, 1 teaspoon dried)
  • Chopped Parsley (Fresh Italian/Flat)
  • Salt
  • Crushed Red Pepper
  • Sugar
  • Bay Leaves
  • Garlic (3 cloves)
  • 1 medium yellow onion (optional)

Steps

  1. Saute onion first
  2. Saute garlic
  3. Add tomatoes to sauce pot
  4. Add Basil and Parsley
  5. Add a few granules of crushed red pepper
  6. Bring to a boil
  7. Simmer for at least an hour, until it's thick
    • If cooking meatballs, will could take up to 2.5 hours to thicken

Reheating

Reheat small amounts in microwave- large amounts in sauce pot on stove.
